July 7, 2005 article in the GIS Monitor - “GIS for emergency response in San Francisco” by Matteo Lucio, GIS Monitor, 07.07.2005. San Francisco, which has a population of about 800,000 and covers about 49 square miles, began an enterprise GIS five years ago, under mayor Willie Brown.
